Wyoming Veteran Benefits

This guide to Wyoming veteran benefits covers both state programs coordinated through the Wyoming Veterans Commission and Wyoming Military Department partners, and federal VA benefits (health care, disability compensation, GI Bill®, VA home loans). This guide focuses on Wyoming-specific benefits veterans and eligible family members use most often—property tax relief, overseas combat tuition, employment preference, parks and Game & Fish privileges, and where to get free local help—updated for 2026.

Programs, dollar amounts, and eligibility rules change. Always confirm with the official agency linked below, a Wyoming State Veterans Service Officer, or the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs before you apply.

Wyoming Veteran Benefits: Population & Overview

The Wyoming Veterans Commission develops and promotes programs, services, and benefits for Wyoming veterans and families. Services are free. State Veterans Service Officers help with VA claims, records, and benefit navigation. VA NCVAS State Summary materials report Wyoming’s veteran population at approximately 44,835 for 2024 (FY2024 NCVAS story; FY2023 summary listed about 44,792). Use current VetPop tables for planning—do not rely on commercial rankings.

Wyoming has no state personal income tax. The Commission publishes a comprehensive Veterans Benefits Book (PDF / flipbook editions). Federal VA benefits are separate: enroll and file through VA.gov.
